I couldn't find overrides that allowed same-sex romance of OC/HOTU's romance options, so I made them myself. Here it is. There's also some optional stuff that lets PCs flirt with some of the base henchmen and NPCs regardless of the PC's gender.
But that's extra. Mostly this project is about being gay for Nathyrra. Or Aribeth. Or Valen. Or even Aarin Gend, I suppose, if you somehow like him.
Tested for EE, should work for Diamond Edition. Although you'll have to figure out where you put the files into yourself if you want to run it on the latter.
The .7z file contains three folders because the workings of my mind are an enigma, and it seemed like a good idea at the time.
You will want to read below what each folder does. Then you should copy the contents of whatever ones you fancy into your Neverwinter Nights folder in the Documents directory.
Yes, the "portraits" folder is necessary. It doesn't contain portraits, it contains more override files because the portraits folder has a high load priority, and that was the only way I could find that let me override module files. Don't @me.
Here's what each folder includes:
It's probably smart if you only take 1 and 2, though I played through OC and both expansions with the scripts from 3 and nothing broke. That is, nothing more than usual. Your mileage may vary.
Well. There's the edits that let the gay romance happen; removing the gender checks. Then there's the followup edits for gendered words like "male" and "boy" and "jaluk" (yes, I looked up a drow dictionary) in romance contexts so they don't get applied to PCs of wrong gender. A couple of voicelines were edited too, a bit clumsily. I did OC by replacing the original voicelines with edited ones, only to realize during HOTU that I could preserve the original lines for heterosexual pairings by just making a little dialogue branch and using a different voiceline for it. So that's what I did for HOTU.
The overrides also fix some bugs I spotted. Some Aribeth voicelines didn't play, it was impossible to ever ask Valen for followup questions to his 6th romance dialogue because the script x2_ivalstage61.ncs didn't exist, and the 4th romance dialogues in ch2 for Valen and Nathyrra never triggered because of an off-by-one error. Nathyrra's romance dialogues in ch3 also had some missing triggers that caused odditites in a few lines.
In OC, there's a couple of NPCs that you can flirt with regardless of gender if you install folder 2. Gilbert and Chandra in the prologue; Constance in chapter 2; and Orcambass, Yeanasha, and Nyphithys in chapter 2 epilogue. All of the Moonstone Mask's escorts are also available for everyone now. Except that rude dude if you have low charisma. Also, you can choose whether you'll talk with Rhaine or Oreth during a sidequest in Luskan.
There's nothing for SoU because...I didn't spot any shades of flirting or romance in the campaign. Maybe I was just dense, maybe there is nothing to change there. Either way, you can't romance Deekin.
I think that's all? There's a readme included, but it's more or less the above info in different words.
Finally: shoutouts to Proleric who replied to a Steam thread on the subject nearly five years ago. Their advice to someone else made me start poking things in the editor which devolved into a hyperfixation until I could play the game gay. And now you can too. Maybe, if I didn't screw everything up while exporting and moving the files around.

Well met.
What a neat idea. And many thnaks for the time spent on the detailed instructions. Arin Gend is a good target. A spy master with lots of secrets. I think our minds work by gender checks as well.

Sharwyn: Done, and done.

Dude, the fact that you went and fixed bugs that were there without anyone even being aware is amazing!
I like this lots! And the idea to use the portraits folder to expedite overrides, that's brilliant! I look forward to playing this! Thank you for contributing to the community! It's content like this that keeps our precious NwN alive!
I made an account just to say thank you for this.
I've been waiting for something like this since I first played the game. Thank you so much, you beautiful person!
This is such a great idea!
I'm always happy to see more LGBT+ content here, thanks for the upload
Add me to the list of folks who made an account purely to sing your praises. I considered making this mod a million years ago then shrugged and said "eh, I can just write fanfic in my head about it". Thank you so much for being cooler than me.
